Where I Feast in Florence

Ponte Vecchio

Florence is foodie heaven. Here’s a quick run through of some of Florentine spots to eat, drink, and relax:

Restaurants:

Trattoria 4 Leoni: go here and have the pear ravioli, it is fantastic! Then go check out Boboli Gardens nearby.  Bonus: it is on the street I lived on!

Osteria Santo Spirito: love this place. Such delicious food, very casual vibes in a beautiful piazza. Go there!

Trattoria Zaza: near il Mercato Centrale, always had a good meal here. I always enjoy their the pasta with pesto

Coquinarius: fresh pasta in a stylish setting

Club Culinario Toscano da Osvaldo: fantastic florentine steak

Trattoria Dall'Oste: come for the steak, stay for the truffle pasta dishes

Panini:

Pino's: great sandwiches, great man (Pino) behind the counter

Antico Vanaio: literally the size of your head - beware the extremely long line. To be honest, may no longer be worth getting now that they've expanded to NYC, as well

Drinks:

Kikuya: stop in if you’re looking for a pub

Rasputin: cool speakeasy vibes

Gelato:

Eduardo: a MUST. No questions, get the salted pistachio. I ate this literally every day for months, and I’d do it again. It's right next to the Duomo (Beyoncé loves it too)

Honorable mentions: Gelateria dei Neri, Gelateria Santa Trinita

A Few Notes:

If you are going off season - actually, any time of year… this is Italy! - check to see restaurant hours and make sure they’re open.

Gusta pizza is loved by tourists, I personally think it tastes just like anything you've had in America. I’d skip!

And, most importantly, if you are out late at night, find a secret bakery and order a croissant (‘un cornetto’) !
